Post-Tour
blog: Inmoria UK Tour 21-30 October 2011
Last month Inmoria
did a successful 8-date tour of England with the lovely chaps
'Intense' as main support. It was Inmoria's first visit over
here and despite various last-minute changes including transport,
a venue cancellation with less than a week's notice, to name
a few (all of which can happen no matter how far a tour is planned
in advance), it was good to see that the band took it in their
stride & never failed to deliver an amazing performance and
show on stage every single night.
The band also brought
along their own change in the form of one mighty Ronny Hemlin,
who had stepped in to do tour dates after Soren Adamsen (vocalist
on the album) left the band.
One of the funniest
things that happened on the tour (and there were many!) was
when we were driving through London to get to the Purple Turtle.
Of course, I later learned that we could have avoided the harrowing
ordeal of having to drive through central London whilst trying
to avoid all the nutter drivers, by going around the M25 - but
alas I relied on the good old GPS to know best (mistake). Being
in a rather large van, we were somewhat restricted to where
we determinedly wanted to drive - the ridiculously tight/narrow
path leading to Putney Bridge being one such example.
If driving through
central London wasn't enough to send Dan (who shared the driving
for the first 4 dates of the tour with Ronny) over the edge,
then a random police stop & search must have been!! A large
number of friendly-looking, albeit gun-wielding, anti-terrorist
squad/policemen signalled to us to pull over and everybody dutifully
got out of the van - even though they hadn't been asked to!
The police questioned Dan as the driver and asked all sorts
of questions about the band so I hopped over to give my manager's
spiel. Then the policeman asked Dan if he had any criminal activity
to report, whereby Dan scratched his head and said: 'Well, actually
yes about 10 years ago….' I hurriedly interjected: 'No, no,
he's asking about England, not Sweden' to which Dan replied:
'Ah, I see - no, no, no, nothing in England' - I didn't want
to ask what he had been about to say!!
After all the checks
on the driver's licence had been done and they could see that
we were carrying nothing more than swedes & turnips, we were
free to go and we continued our merry drive into Camden.
Other 'highlights'
of the tour include:
Ronny pulling into a petrol station & mistakenly believing he'd
put the handbrake on, then flapping about in vain à la penguin
trying to stop the van from rolling forward into the car in
front and hooking itself onto it;
numerous wrong turns despite having a GPS (which can be very
misleading I found..);
phones and boots that managed to lose themselves from their
owner;
having 5 drunk Swedes in the house;
putting a spider into Christer's guitar case after finding out
he has a phobia;
the jam on the last night of the tour with Intense & Inmoria
on stage together for the encore; the list goes on..
Most importantly,
it was a good tour and I think it's safe to assume that the
band have now recovered from their ordeal! A big thank you to
everyone who came out and supported Inmoria including those
that came out on a whim and were glad they did!
Also a big thank
you to the press that came to review the shows, do interviews
& take photographs (thanx to Dave De La Haye at Phoenix Radio;
Neil Wallis, Helen Banks & Ritchie-James Braidwood at Phoenix
Rising; Lee Lycan Fitzsimmons & Wendy Pritchard at MetalTalk;
Arkadiusz Czechorowski; Andy at RockingTheMidlands; and Jenny
Tate at Rhubarb Radio).
Inmoria will be back
in the UK in 2012 so if you missed them this time, don't miss
them again!
